You could buy a car that took 26.9 seconds to reach 60.

I lived in England for the first 10 years of my life (1995-2005) and I don't recall ever seeing one of those. It looks like a Micra that ate a few bees.

I just read that as, "If you bought that car in 1999, it might've reached 60 by now."

Someone with a gajillion kids who lived round the corner from me had one. Hideous rusty lump of a thing.

This is a fairly accurate description. I can't imagine pulling onto the motorway from a dead stop in one of these.

When I first saw a UK magazine review of that van I thought it was the same as the Nissan Quest we got here. Lucky for us, it wasn't. The Quest was never that slow, and was actually not a bad little van.

I don't think anyone in the american market would've tolerated something as slow as the Serena. It must've been very cheap to sell here.

Oooh, a Serena! Haven't seen one for ages.

A few years before you could have bought a 2CV which took something like 40 sec to reach 60 mph.

God I hate the 2CV. My grandad used to maintain one for someone, he remembers it was so floppy the body twisting in turns popped the doors open.

Meanwhile, everyone gives the Toyota Previa street cred for being a mid-engined, RWD Minivan, while this was exactly the same. It also got the SR20.

It was still barely quicker than a Previa even with the sr20 though. Plus the interior and ride was absolutely awful. I'd take a Previa over this any day.

I agree that the Previa is still a much nicer car all around, but the complete awfulness of it makes the Serena better for upgrading and trolling chavbros in their B Corsas.

That's true.
